Chemical peels is a cosmetic procedure which includes the removal of certain skin problems by applying some types of fruit acid onto the skin.

Chemical Peels is used fields:

Curing acne Alpha hydroxic acid, beta hydroxic acid, pyruvic acid, as well as enzyme content products are used for process. Fruit acids destroys the connection between the fat cells on the skin and weakens them, also reduces the lipoidosis by contacting the excessive fat groups on the skin. Furthermore, today, it can also be used to vanish the spots on the skin by peeling to counter the effects of certain enzymes.

How many seances does it take?

It is planned as 4 seances but might differ depending on the patient’s situation. There are daily peeling procedures, enzyme peelings and certain type of peeling procedures which aim to prepare the skin for laser. In procedures which require multiple sessions, 1-2 week gaps breaks are taken between the sessions.

Is it painful?

This process  is not a painful procedure. A burning sensation might be experienced due to certain products but this feeling is temporary and brief. No anesthetics are required before the surgery.

How long is the procedure?

It is a 10-20 minutes long procedure.

What kind of precautions should be taken after the procedure? 

A mild rash is experienced after the procedure, depending on the products used. If the peeling procedure aims to renew the skin, top skin layer can remove itself during the day. Therefore, patients should not wash their face or apply any other type of products to the face on the day of the procedure. Sun screen must be applied to the face if requested by the doctor. Patients should not massage their faces, should not depilate their faces and scratch their faces, especially using their fingernails.

What are the side effects of chemical peels? 

If the patient does not use sun screen for the days following the surgery, some unwanted spots might appear. Some patients might experience a mild burning sensation which disappears within a few hours but the patient can return to his/her daily activities on the same day.

Which seasons should be chosen  for this  process? 

This process should be performed in spring or winter when exposure to sun is not frequent.
